Kate & Enes
Kate and Enes were married at The Lenox Hotel on July 9th, 2022, a beautiful and warm day in the Back Bay. The happy couple recently shared details about their special day with our Catering Team.
How Did You Meet
After many failed online dating experiences, Kate was ready to give up. Her childhood friend took Kate’s phone, opened her Hinge app, and swiped through till she landed on Enes. Tall, dark and handsome, he seemed to fit the bill. They matched, they met, and the rest is history.
What was your favorite moment of your big day?
Our favorite moment is a three way tie…on the morning of the wedding, we read our vows to each other in our hotel room. We were privately declaring our intentions to each other. Again, to be able to be back in the area where our relationship started to bloom, and then 3 years later, saying our vows to each other forever was like a fairy tale. This is tied with having our first look on a private balcony, and dancing together throughout the night—we never left the dance floor!
Why Did You Choose The Lenox Hotel For Your Wedding?
We chose the Lenox because it was in the area where our relationship began. Our first date was one block away at Earls in the Prudential. Enes lived two streets away from the Lenox, so we spent most of the beginning of our relationship walking along Boylston street and along the Esplanade. We have since moved out to the suburbs, so to have our nuptials happen where our relationship started made us feel we had come full circle. To be able to look out, on our wedding day, at the streets we used to explore when we were still learning about each other was truly special. It was meaningful to be in a place where we could reflect on how far we had come as a couple. We even got married 3 years to the day of our first date.
What personal touches did you add in?
Our table numbers were named after important things in our life: our dog; our first apartment; and other shared interests. We included pictures with descriptions. Since we met just before covid, a few of our friends and family were still getting to know us as a couple—for some, our wedding was the first time they got to see us together in person—so it was important to show everyone a little glimpse into our lives. Enes is from Turkiye (Turkey) and so we had our Dj play some traditional and contemporary Turkish music.Ben and Jerry’s The Tonight Dough and Half Baked are our favorite ice cream flavors so we had to have the ice cream bar! Our officiant was the person responsible for us meeting—due to her keen swiping—Kate’s childhood friend, Larissa.
Any Advice for Other Couples During the Planning Process or Wedding Weekend?
The day goes by in a blur, so make sure you are fully present. You have spent a long time planning everything, so now is the time to enjoy it! Do not carry your phone around with you— give it to your maid of honor/ best man. Make sure you have a point person who can make decisions and handle questions that come up during the day. Something will not happen as how you imagined, but the day will still be special, yours, and wonderful.
Anything else you would like to say?
Because of the constantly-changing COVID world, our initial wedding plans varied from our final wedding day. Mara was flexible, answered all of our questions, and helped us through each step of the wedding day. Even though we did not have a wedding planner, it didn’t feel like we needed one. Sometimes it is easy to get caught up in the rush of everything, but this is your moment to enjoy your one true love, surrounded by others you love, so just enjoy it!
